When the Vineland Growers Cooperative started operations in September, 1913, the well-known Lakehouse Restaurant at the shore north of Jordan Station was a private farmhouse belonging to one of the founders of the co-op. Fruit and vegetables were loaded aboard ships at a dock near the house, for transport to Toronto and from there to markets and towns across Ontario.
