NECTARINES

Nectarines come from the same family of fruit as peaches and their appearance is quite similar. They can be distinguished from peaches by their vivid red colour and their fuzzless skin. They are sweet and juicy and depending on preference can be enjoyed while still hard and crunchy or left to soften first.

Ontario Nectarine and Pistachio Bread Pudding with Caramel SauceBread is cubed and mixed with diced Ontario nectarine and pistachios in a casserole pan. Covered in a mixture of eggs, milk and cinnamon and topped with a pattern of halved nectarines and baked in the oven. Drizzle with a warm caramel sauce.

Ontario Nectarine, Basil and Fried Mozzarella StacksFresh mozzarella cheese rounds are breaded and fried. The fried mozzarella is then stacked on Ontario nectarine slices with basil in between. Topped with a balsamic glaze.
